About Dr. Richard Cowles

Advances in neuroscience have created a need for a specialist not only trained in biology but also in psychology. Richard S. Cowles, Psy. D. (Doctor of Psychology) is a Clinical Neuropsychologist and cognitive neuroscientist cross trained in psychology, behavioral neurology, psychiatry, psychopharmacology, biochemistry, and physiology.

At Duquesne University, Dr. Cowles earned a MA in Psychology and at the University of Denver, a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Cowles completed an internship at the VA Hospital in Perry Point, MD and residency in Neuropsychology at Harvard Medical School’s Longwood Area Program.

Dr. Cowles is a Board Candidate in Clinical Neuropsychology (American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology) and Board Certified in Psychopharmacology by the International College of Prescribing Psychologists. He is also a member of the American Neuropsychiatric Association and has just completed an additional Masters of Science degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology.

In addition to working in hospital and clinic settings, Dr. Cowles has co-taught neuroanatomy at Harvard University and worked as a consultant for the University on dysgraphia evaluations for students with learning disabilities.

Dr. Cowles currently sees patients in his private practice in multiple locations in both the the Dallas, Texas area and also in the Boston, Massachusetts area. He is on staff at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
